FAQs

  • What are Apologia Live Classes?

Apologia Live Classes are interactive, instructor-led online classes tailored for homeschool students in grades 6–12. They cover subjects like science, math, language arts, history, government, foreign languages, and apologetics, providing dynamic lessons without requiring parent-led instruction or grading.

  • How do Apologia's live classes work?

Students participate in scheduled live sessions via a virtual classroom platform, engaging in real-time with peers and experienced instructors. Classes are designed to be interactive, encouraging discussion and active learning. Sessions are recorded, allowing students to review material as needed or catch up on any class they missed live.

  • Are Apologia’s Live Classes a school?

No. You, as the homeschool family, are the legal, authorized educational institution. Apologia’s Live Classes serve as part of the selected curriculum for your family’s homeschool.

  • What subjects are offered in Apologia Live Classes?

Apologia offers a diverse range of live classes, including:

    • Science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Forensics)
    • Math (e.g., Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2)
    • Language Arts
    • History and Government
    • Foreign Languages (e.g., Spanish, Latin)
    • Apologetics and Worldview
  • Do I need to grade my child's work in these classes?

No, Apologia’s instructors handle grading and assessments, providing feedback directly to students and parents. This approach allows parents to focus on supporting their child’s learning journey without the added responsibility of grading.

  • Can my student access class recordings if they miss a session?

Absolutely. All live sessions are recorded and made available to enrolled students, ensuring they can catch up at their convenience on any missed content.

  • Are Live Classes considered AP?

Advanced Placement and AP are registered trademarks of the College Board. For a course to be labeled as AP or Advanced Placement, the College Board must review and approve its content and syllabus.

The transcript cannot honestly indicate an AP designation because our live classes and curriculum are not AP-certified.

However, after taking our advanced science courses, most students can take the AP exams that correlate with the content. Parents can then indicate the AP test scores on a transcript. If students would like to take an AP exam, we recommend they also complete an AP prep book so that they are more aware of the types of questions that will be asked and have access to a few practice AP tests as well.

  • Do you have any samples of a full class?

Yes! Here are two sample classes for Chemistry and Physics.

  • How do I enroll my child in an Apologia Live Class?

The live class enrollment period runs from March to August, and classes begin the week of August 18.

Enrollment can be completed here, on Apologia’s official website. Simply navigate to the Live Classes section, select the desired class, and follow the registration instructions. Early registration is recommended, as class sizes may be limited.

  • Is there support available if my student has questions outside of class time?

Yes, instructors are accessible to students for additional support and questions. Details on how best to contact instructors outside of scheduled class times are provided during the class orientation.

  • What is the parent's responsibility for live classes?

Parents should ensure that their homeschooling program adheres to the academic standards set by their state of residence. Additionally, we recommend that parents remain involved in their child’s education by reviewing completed assignments, providing assistance with labs, and observing test-taking as needed.

As the authorized educational institution, it is the responsibility of your homeschool to maintain accurate records, grades, transcripts, and other important documentation that may be required for admission to other educational institutions.

  • Do you have payment plans for Live Classes?
