Lesson Plans and Materials
There are 14 lessons in this one-year botany course. Detailed lesson plans as well as a suggested daily schedule are included in the Notebooking Journal. This will set you and your student up for success as they work through the course, while also providing flexibility to meet the needs of your student and your family.
Packed with vivid photos and a variety of hands-on activities and experiments that bring botany to life, the Student Textbook and the Student Notebooking Journal team up to provide engaging hands-on activities to bring learning to life off the page (the chapter on gardening is one of our favorites!). All of the activities and experiments use easy-to-obtain household items and truly make the lessons come alive!
Hands-on Activities and Experiments
Designed to captivate the curiosity of your student, this botany course has 75 different activities for your student to choose from! Some of the activities and experiments your student will complete in this course include building (and harvesting) a raised garden, making a tree field guide, building a light hut, growing edible mushrooms, and building a lichenometer.
All activities and projects in this course are able to be modified, and use easy-to-find household items that truly make the lessons fun!
One Notebooking Journal for All Ages
Apologia’s junior and regular notebooking journals are being revised and combined into one notebooking journal designed for all ages from K-6th. These updated journals encourage and simplify multi-age family learning.
NOTE: The updated notebooking journals do not include primary handwriting lines, so if you have younger students, you may wish to add the handwriting guidelines or have them dictate to you what they wish to have written. Learn more about adapting a notebooking journal for your youngest explorer.
