Included Class Materials
- Digital ebook version of Exploring Creation with High School Forensics by Joseph A. Prahlow, M.D. (digital ebook access included in class)
Note to Parents: The information in the book used for this course is compiled by Dr. Prahlow – a forensic pathologist and Deputy Medical Examiner with the Department of Pathology at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The images in this textbook are real, and the stories are true. Crime, death, and forensics might seem like an odd topic of study in high school, but as a Christian you know that our world is fallen. Sin exists, and choices are made by our fellow human beings that sometimes require a team of experts to ensure justice is served.
If your student is considering a career in law enforcement, forensic science, pathology, or any other segment of study that involves dealing with sin in our world, you are in our prayers! Our world needs more Christians in these fields. Your student can make a difference and be a light in a set of dark circumstances that surround these topics at times.
Apologia has spent years working with Dr. Prahlow and his team of experts designing this book for your student. And while there certainly are disturbing topics covered in this book, we did our best to present them in a God-honoring manner.
Please note that by no means do we consider this textbook to be all-inclusive. It is, however, meant to be a primer for high school students who may be interested in pursuing a career in these fields. Students will be able to experience these topics for the first time in a Christ-centered home environment. Some of the material and subject matter in this book is shocking, and, at times, violent. Parents, please be aware of this fact and prayerfully consider the contents before enrolling your student in this class for mature high school students. We recommend checking in regularly with your student and offering them emotional support as they study this material. Thank you.
